MILLWRIGHT APPRENTICE (3RD YEAR)

MASTERFUL TEC is a registered apprenticeship program that was developed by ZF LIFETEC, in Midland, ON. This exclusive and structured one-of-a-kind training program is geared towards apprentices who have completed their first block of schooling, and provides apprentices with job training, as well as specific classroom training - which builds the skills they will require to successfully perform within our auto manufacturing facilities.
We are currently looking for a 3rd Year Millwright Apprentice (433A) to join our ever-expanding skilled trades team in Midland, ON.
As a Millwright Apprentice, what you can expect from our new and unique program are monthly reviews and skill challenges for each apprentice; monthly logbook inspection and testing; specialized training such as AB Rockwell software for PCL basics and troubleshooting; VFD and hydraulics trouble shooting; solid works training and 3D development; Robotic maintenance and AI laser measurement tools - just to name a few.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Must have completed, or be in the process of completing, level 3 of their apprenticeship program (433A).
  • Experience working within a team, and with other tradespeople.
  • Able to start their own minor repairs with supervision – if necessary.
  • Physically able to perform the heavy tasks that are required of a Millwright.
  • Mechanically inclined.
Responsibilities
  • Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Install, align, dismantle and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, furnaces and generators according to layout plans using hand and power tools.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery.
  • Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and investigate irregularities and malfunctions.
  • Install, troubleshoot and maintain power transmission, vacuum, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and programmable logic controls.
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Operate machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance or set-up of machinery.
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Assemble machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
  • Follow Company Environmental Health & Safety policies and PPE requirements.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and be familiar with, as well as follow, all safe operating procedures.
  • Working a rotating shift and complete overtime – as required.
