POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Millwright/Maintenance Supervisor to provide hands-on technical leadership in our maintenance operations. This is a working supervisor role requiring extensive millwright experience and the ability to perform complex mechanical installations, repairs, and maintenance while simultaneously leading a team of maintenance technicians. The successful candidate will balance supervisory responsibilities with direct involvement in precision machinery work, equipment alignment, and mechanical system installations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; millwright apprenticeship or technical degree preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of millwright experience with demonstrated expertise in machinery installation and repair
  • Current millwright certification or journeyman status required
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience in maintenance operations
  • Experience with precision alignment tools, rigging equipment, and heavy machinery
  • Proven track record in industrial machinery troubleshooting and repair

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Expert-level millwright skills including machinery installation, alignment, and repair
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, power transmission, and industrial equipment
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools and laser alignment equipment
  • Welding certification and fabrication skills (MIG, TIG, Stick welding preferred)
  • Strong hydraulic and pneumatic system knowledge
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Experience with rigging, crane operations, and heavy equipment moving
  • Understanding of safety regulations (OSHA) and lockout/tagout procedures
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed millwright apprenticeship program or equivalent trade certification
  • Additional certifications in welding, rigging, or crane operation
  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, thermal imaging)
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience with specific industrial equipment relevant to our operations
  • Electrical troubleshooting and basic electrical repair capabilities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds regularly
  • Comfortable working in various industrial environments (hot, cold, noisy, confined spaces)
  • Capability to climb ladders, scaffolding, and work at heights up to 30 feet
  • Manual dexterity for precision work with tools and measuring instruments
  • Physical stamina for extended periods of standing, bending, and kneeling
  • Visual acuity for reading technical documents, blueprints, and precision measurements
  • Ability to work in cramped spaces and around moving machinery
Responsibilities

HANDS-ON MILLWRIGHT DUTIES

  • Perform precision machinery installation, alignment, and leveling using laser alignment tools
  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial machinery including pumps, compressors, conveyors, and production equipment
  • Conduct shaft alignment, bearing installation, and coupling alignments
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and machining tasks as required
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical systems and equipment failures
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals
  • Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, dial indicators, gauges)
