QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Tertiary qualification in mining related field (desirable).
  • Ability to analyse data and operational performance to identify trends and optimise processes.
  • Clear and concise communication skills to collaborate across teams and provide timely updates.
  • Confident in making informed decisions quickly in dynamic, fast paced environments.
  • Flexibility to learn and implement new technologies, workflows, and practices effectively.
  • Knowledge of mining processes, equipment, and autonomous mining principles, with a focus on control room operations.
  • Familiarity with principles and practices related to autonomous mining operations (desirable).
  • Proven ability to address and resolve operational challenges in high-pressure, time-sensitive situations (desirable).
  • Strong understanding of fleet management systems and control room technologies (desirable).
  • Demonstrated experience in mine control or similar operational roles within the mining industry (desirable).
  • Proficiency with fleet management systems, particularly Fortex, or equivalent platforms (desirable).
  • Experience supporting transitions or implementations of new technologies or systems in an operational environment (desirable).

Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control fleet operations in real-time to ensure safety, efficiency, and productivity. Address issues promptly and escalate when necessary.
  • Assist in transitioning from our existing Fleet Management system to the in-house, Fortescue developed, Fortex FMS system, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Implement and adhere to new processes, workflows, and standards that align with the adoption of the Fortex system.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance control room efficiency, focusing on transitioning from active control intervention to an “intervene by exception” model.
  • Maintain clear communication and coordination with operational and support teams to ensure alignment with site objectives and seamless issue resolution.
  • Participate in testing and commissioning of Fortex functionalities, providing valuable feedback to support system improvements.
  • Ensure accurate collection, monitoring, and analysis of operational data to support decision-making and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Adhere to all safety standards, procedures, and regulations, ensuring that control room activities align with Fortescue’s safety and environmental policies.
  • Support the training and development of team members in adopting new technologies and processes to improve overall control room capabilities.
  • Actively contribute to Fortescue’s broader objectives of achieving Net Zero, driving innovation, and enhancing sustainable mining practices.
