Description
Mine Engineer Seeking an experienced Senior Mine Engineer to provide technical leadership and operational support across mining projects. This role combines mine planning, contractor management, and field execution to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective outcomes. Position works in a combination of office-based engineering and field environments, with regular exposure to active mining and construction operations. Requires the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and a proactive, independent, hands-on approach. Key Responsibilities Include: Safety & Compliance •Promote strong safety culture, ensure compliance with all HSE regulations and company standards •Oversee contractor safety practices, including field risk management and hazard controls •Conduct inspections, audits, and incident investigations •Ensure environmental controls (dust, drainage, spill prevention) are maintained Technical Engineering & Mine Planning •Lead mine design, modeling, and sequencing using Maptek Vulcan •Develop short- and medium-term mine plans and production schedules •Perform engineering analyses, trade-off studies, and cost evaluations •Prepare technical reports and support permitting activities Contractor Management & Operations •Manage daily performance of contractors and mining crews •Monitor productivity, equipment utilization, and plan compliance •Identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions •Validate contractor reporting, timesheets, and cost submissions Construction & Tailings Oversight •Supervise tailings and earthworks construction activities •Ensure compliance with engineering designs, specifications, and quality standards •Coordinate survey, as-built verification, and construction records •Identify and resolve design or construction deviations Cost Control & Reporting •Responsible to track costs against budget and forecast •Monitor KPIs, productivity, and contractor performance •Prepare regular operational and cost reports •Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements Qualifications & Experience •Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline •10+ years of mining experience •Proficiency in mine planning software (Vulcan preferred) •Experience managing contractors and earthworks operations •Mineral sands experience desirable •Strong technical and analytical capability Incumbent must have a valid driver's license, (active for a minimum of 2 years) to be considered for this role.
