General Overview: The Mine Planning and Resource Manager leads geological evaluation, mine design, long- and short-term planning, and reserve management across multiple silica sand mining operations. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal utilization of mineral resources while supporting sustainable, safe, and cost-effective operations. Responsibilities: Mine Planning Develop and maintain long-term mine plans that support production goals and resource optimization across all mining sites. Create and update short- and mid-range mine plans in coordination with plant managers and operations teams. Oversee mine sequencing and scheduling to ensure consistent feed quality and minimize costs. Resource & Reserve Management Lead geological exploration, modeling, and reserve estimation activities. Manage and update geological models and resource databases using industry-standard software. Ensure compliance with internal and regulatory reporting standards for reserves and resources (e.g., NI 43-101 or JORC if applicable). Geological & Technical Oversight Supervise drilling programs, core logging, sampling, and geotechnical assessments. Analyze quality and variability of silica sand deposits to inform blending, beneficiation, and plant supply strategies. Coordinate with environmental and permitting teams to ensure mine plans align with reclamation and permit boundaries. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with operations, engineering, environmental, and business development teams to support expansion projects, permitting, and capital planning. Support land acquisition decisions with geological assessments and resource modeling. Technology & Data Management Utilize mining and geological software such as MineSight, Surpac, Vulcan, or similar for modeling and planning. Maintain robust datasets, GIS files, and resource tracking tools across all properties. Team Leadership Manage and mentor junior geologists, planning engineers, and survey staff as needed. Build and maintain a high-performance technical team across multiple locations. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred). Minimum 7–10 years of mine planning or resource management experience, preferably in industrial minerals or surface mining operations. Proven experience with mine design, reserve modeling, and multi-site mine planning. Proficiency in mine planning and geological modeling software (e.g., Vulcan, Surpac, Carlson, AutoCAD, ArcGIS). Professional licensure (P.E., P.G., or equivalent) preferred. Knowledge of silica sand quality standards and processing requirements preferred. Familiarity with regulatory and environmental compliance for surface mining operations preferred. Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills. Willingness to travel regularly between mine sites (30–50%). Mental and Physical Requirements: Able to read, speak and write in English. Ability to use sophisticated computer software programs to achieve job functions. Strong physical and mental health to maintain demanding workload. Able to work under stressful conditions at times.
