Job Title: Mineral Processing Technician I

Experience:

  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Mineral Processing Engineering.
  • Experience in froth flotation, cyanidation, gravity concentration, comminution
  • Proficient with MS Office computer programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment with limited supervision.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to multi-task with a strong sense of urgency in a fast-paced deadline driven environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.

Blue Coast Research Ltd. (BCR) is a leading consultancy and metallurgical testwork laboratory located in Parksville, British Columbia. BCR is focused on providing high quality metallurgical testwork, data and interpretation to the global minerals industry.
BCR is looking to hire a full time Mineral Processing Technician to be part of our expanding laboratory team.
About The Position

Mineral Processing duties include:

  • Be a visible health and safety leader, with a focus on providing a safe and respectful environment for Blue Coast employees, clients, and contractors.
  • Crushing and blending of testwork samples ahead of metallurgical testwork programs
  • Bucking (homogenising and subsampling) of metallurgical samples ahead of analysis in the analytical laboratory
  • Sieve sizing analysis using sieves and a Ro-Tap machine
  • Pulverising samples using a ring and puck pulveriser machine
  • Inventorying and organising samples upon arrival and upon completion of testwork. Must be able to lift 20kg.
  • Coordinating samples for long term storage.
  • Sample batch milling
  • Conducting gravity concentration tests using Knelsen centrifugal concentrator, shaker tables
  • Mineralogy prep support (crushing, blending and subsampling, potting in epoxy, polishing and carbon coating)
  • Assisting sample preparation, analytical chemistry and mineral processing technicians in various laboratory tasks as required
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy work area
  • Engage in clear and timely communication with supervisors and colleagues to ensure smooth workflow, accurate sample tracking, and adherence to safety and procedural requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The position will be a permanent full-time hourly position based upon 40 work hours per week.
The successful candidate will be eligible to enroll in our Group Benefits Program as well as our group RRSP program on the first day of employment.
