Description:

Williams Operating Corporation, a Barrick Gold operation located near Marathon, Ontario has an opportunity for an:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Bachelor of Science in Geology
  • Registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Geoscientist with APGO
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including at least two years’ experience in a similar leadership role.
  • Experience with 3D modeling, planning, and database software (e.g. Vulcan / Leapfrog, AcQuire, Deswik)
  • Geology management experience in both Open Pit and Underground mining environments
  • Experience in near-mine exploration and infill drilling campaigns
  • Ability to present to and collaborate with corporate executives and the site Senior Leadership Team.
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access)
  • Valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities:

  • Establishing and maintaining systems that ensure geological functions are carried out safely and in accordance with industry best practices.

  • Weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting of production and reconciliation performance, and presentation of results to the Executive Committee
  • Ensuring open pit and underground grade control is carried out effectively to maximize grade and gold ounces
  • Overseeing annual budget preparation and management of departmental costs
  • Management of diamond drilling contractors to ensure safety and performance targets are met
  • Ensuring that depleted reserves and resources are replaced through the execution of Resource Growth drill programs in line with the Life-of-Mine plan, and that a balanced pipeline of early and advanced stage projects is maintained
  • Oversight of Resource Model updates and ensuring that Reserve and Resource statements are prepared in accordance with NI 43-101.
  • Sourcing and retaining high quality geology personnel, and ensuring that appropriate training, mentoring, and performance management is carried out
