United Wambo Joint Venture (UWJV) is an open-cut coal mine located 16 kilometres west of Singleton in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. UWJV is a 50:50 joint venture between United Collieries (Glencore and MEU) and Wambo Coal (Peabody). We commenced operation in 2020 and are forecast to produce up to 10 million tonnes per annum of run of mine (ROM) thermal and semi-soft metallurgical coal until 2042. About the Role As a technically complex operation, UWJV are seeking a driven Mining Engineer to join our short-term planning team. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for: Developing and communicating short-term mine plans (0-3 month timeframe) to assist in delivering the strategic targets for the operation. Interacting with key stakeholders within the business to ensure the compliance to and deliverability of short-term plans. Identification of barriers to achieving mine plans and the implementation of strategies to address. About You Experience in open-cut mine planning, preferably in open-cut coal. Tertiary qualification in mining engineering or similar discipline (essential). Sound working knowledge of truck & excavator fleets and haulage optimisation. Competent in the use of mine planning software (such as Spry, Vulcan and Deswik) and proficient in MS Office. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with other teams across the operation. This role requires an individual prepared to challenge the norm, drive continuous improvement and who can demonstrate experience in implementing best practice using a fully involved and hands on approach.
