Description
United Wambo Joint Venture (UWJV) is an open-cut coal mine located 16 kilometres west of Singleton in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales. UWJV is a 50:50 joint venture between United Collieries (Glencore and MEU) and Wambo Coal (Peabody). Job Description UWJV commenced operation in 2020 and are forecast to produce up to 10 million tonnes per annum of run of mine (ROM) thermal and semi-soft metallurgical coal until 2042. In 2022, UWJV was awarded NSW Mining 'Operation of the Year' Reporting to the Mine Manager, and as an integral member of the mining team, the primary purpose of this role is to ensure that the short term mine plans are achievable, practical and optimise operational performance. Overseeing the performance of the mining supervision team in the areas of HSEC, people and operational performance is a critical part of this role. Key Responsibilities and Pre-requisites: An Open Cut Examiners certificate of competency is a pre-requisite for the role. You will have relevant experience in similar roles gained in the mining industry, with a proven record of accomplishment in demonstrating strong systems focus and strategic approach to delivering positive outcomes. Your proven relationship building skills will be complemented by well developed, interpersonal and influencing abilities. This role requires an individual prepared to challenge the norm, drive continuous improvement and who can demonstrate experience in implementing best practice using a fully involved and hands on approach. You will be required to develop and implement production plans, maintain high standards of mining execution, manage manning requirements/levels, control mining costs and provide expert mining advice – both in the short and long term. In addition, managing your direct reports and providing excellent mentorship is a key function of this role. It is desirable that the candidate either has a Mining Engineering Managers Practicing Certificate or is in the process of obtaining one.
