Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mission Systems HMI Software Engineer (SME) to support an advanced air platform program focused on achieving and sustaining national air dominance. As part of MTSI’s commitment to delivering innovative engineering services and technology solutions, this role will play a key role in designing, integrating, and delivering human-machine interface (HMI) and tactical operator interface (TOI) software that enables effective mission execution across platforms, weapons, and terrestrial systems. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert for HMI/TOI software, supporting rapid, secure, and scalable delivery of mission-critical software capabilities in highly contested environments. Responsibilities Serve as the subject matter expert for Human-Machine Interface (HMI) and Tactical Operator Interface (TOI) software supporting platform, weapon, and terrestrial mission systems Lead and coordinate HMI/TOI software design, prototyping, development, integration, test, and delivery across multiple security levels Provide technical leadership and coordination across Government and industry teams, including participation in technical planning, design reviews, test reviews, and technical assessments Ensure HMI software compliance with Government Reference Architectures (GRAs) and interfaces and support integration of mission systems capabilities across platforms Support rapid, agile software delivery by ensuring robust development pipelines and toolchains that enable accelerated capability delivery to the warfighter Develop and deliver technical briefings to senior technical and leadership audiences and support mission capability development across all phases of acquisition Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline Minimum 8+ years of experience supporting mission systems software development, integration, and delivery, with a focus on HMI, tactical operator interfaces, or other software-intensive mission capabilities Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead or subject matter expert for HMI, operator interface, or mission software efforts, including software design, prototyping, integration, and test in secure environments Required familiarity with modern software development practices and agile toolchains, including the Atlassian Suite and agile methodologies Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience briefing technical content to senior technical and leadership audiences Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, “tip of the spear” environment, with a strong willingness to learn and solve complex mission-critical problems Desired Experience integrating Government Reference Architectures (GRAs) into operational weapon or mission systems Understanding of safety-critical software separation and isolation concepts Experience with open architecture and data-centric software systems Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo Experience supporting CI/CD pipelines for secure software delivery Clearance + Travel Requirements: Active TS/SCI clearance with SAR eligibility required Required TDY travel approximately 20 percent (about one trip per month) #LI-ZS1 #ONSITE #Dragons #Rudy
