Description
Responsibilities

IF YOU ENJOY WORKING ON COUNTRY AND IN COMMUNITY AND WANT TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE, A ROLE IN OUR MITIGATION CREWS COULD BE FOR YOU!

The South Eastern Area Command has two Mitigation Crew Leader positions and six Mitigation Crew Member positions available targeted to Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples. These positions are available in Bega and Nowra.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

We are looking for motivated, community-minded individuals who are passionate about emergency services and want to make a difference. As part of our Mitigation Crews, you’ll play a vital role in frontline operations, helping to protect your community by reducing the risk of fires. From supporting the AIDER Program to preparing hazard reduction activities, Cultural Burns, and firefighting support, you’ll be involved in a range of rewarding initiatives.
We value the expertise and knowledge of Country that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people can bring to the Service. RFS recently formalised our commitment to Reconciliation with the launch of our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan. To support the progression of the action items within the plan, we have engaged a RAP Working Group comprised of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Members and Non-Indigenous members, from all areas, roles and responsibilities across the Service. The aim is to promote Reconciliation within our sphere of influence, strengthen relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and stakeholders, progress RAP projects and initiatives and improve Cultural capability in our service delivery.
Members have access to the Mitigation Aboriginal Support Network (ASN) and a dedicated Aboriginal Programs Coordinator will provide support during the recruitment process.
