Job Title: Mixing MH
Job Profile: 10-Step-CAN01-Level 5 Operator
Role Title: Mixing Material Handler
Function: MFG - Manufacturing General
Grade Profile: 10 Step ON0900 L05

POSITION SUMMARY:

The mixers are responsible for making solution filters, and connecting pumps and filters to the proper filling line. They are also responsible for cleaning tanks, pipework and all other equipment used in the department. Weigh out chemicals, sanitize and set up equipment prior to mixing and mix batches of intravenous solution as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES:

Required:

  • Demonstrated good performance & good quality in present position.
  • Demonstrated good attitude utilizing Baxter Shared Commitment’s.
  • Demonstrated ability to document data correctly per CA GPP 80.
  • Must have the ability to comprehend Baxter Specifications / SOP’s and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours outside of core shift, overtime
  • Ability to enter tanks for inspection and cleaning. (Confined Space entry)
  • Ability to work in noisy and warm, wet conditions; also heavy lifting involved.
  • Equipment and tools used: Electronic scales, balance scales, hand cart, bubble point testing equipment, wash troughs, agitators, pumps, filters, and load cells, BMTS, EBS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Education :

Required:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or Ontario Grade 12 Equivalency program
  • Alternatively, a combination of job specific knowledge, training, and experience is required.

Preferred:

  • Post-secondary Degree in Engineering or Science

EXPERIENCE :

Required:

  • 3 - 5 years’ experience
  • Experience doing repetitive tasks
  • Fast-paced environment, high pressure
  • Ability to work in noisy and warm, wet conditions; also heavy lifting involved.
  • Must pass ergonomic assessment to ensure ability to perform bonafide essential job duties

Preferred:

  • 5+ years’ experience
  • Manufacturing/Quality experience in a GMP environment
  • Experience in food or manufacturing industry
Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Requisition chemicals using EBR.
  • Verify that correct chemicals and quantities issued, Weigh out chemicals as directed by EBR, Document weights on EBR
  • Prepare tanks for mixing by disposing of remaining solution according to environmental specifications.
  • Rinsing with distilled water and then filling tanks with distilled water to a prescribed volume.
  • Flush lines not in use.
  • Clean and sanitize facility, tanks and equipment per SOP.
  • Add chemicals to the mixing tank and verify the chemical types and quantities added on the batch mixing report and make necessary corrections
  • Perform the required EBR entries as required. Take samples to mix chemist
  • Remove emptied bags from area, build necessary filters
  • Control temperature in the mixing tanks by valve adjustments
  • Follow all applicable procedures related to the role, ensure to comply with all GMP, compliance and regulatory requirements
