Description The MLS Next Pro and Academy Physical Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality sports medicine care to all MLS Next Pro and academy players across designated age groups. This role focuses on injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play management in alignment with MLS and club standards. The Physical Therapist will collaborate closely with athletic trainers, performance staff, team physicians, coaches, and parents to support the long-term development and health of academy athletes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provide hands-on physical therapy evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for acute, subacute, and chronic injuries. Design and implement individualized rehabilitation and return-to-play programs based on evidence-based practices. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding injury status, treatment options, and return-to-play expectations. Maintain communication with the Head of Health and the club’s medical services. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records in league-approved EMR systems. Perform functional movement screens and periodic musculoskeletal assessments to reduce injury risk. Conduct objective testing (strength, balance, range of motion, GPS readiness markers, etc.) to determine readiness for training and competition. Comply with all League medical policies, procedures and protocols. Requirements Licenses or Certifications: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from an accredited Program. Licensed to practice in the State of Florida. Current professional CPR certification. Possess personal professional liability insurance. Qualifications: Experience working with youth, collegiate, or elite-level athletes. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the field of sports medicine. Excellent organizational and leadership skills. Enthusiastic and energetic team player. Possess exceptional organizational skills with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize/multi-task. Possesses a strong work ethic and friendly demeanor. Strong PC skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Ability to work extended hours and weekends and holidays when required.
