The individual in this role performs routine and specialized laboratory tests, prepares and processes specimens, and operates and maintains laboratory instruments according to established protocols. Daily responsibilities include following quality control procedures, documenting and verifying test results, and collaborating with clinicians to support accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions. The role also involves adhering to safety standards and regulatory requirements, troubleshooting basic equipment or testing issues, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory efficiency and reliability.QualificationsDemonstrated proficiency in Medical Technology and Laboratory Skills, including specimen handling and basic to advanced testing procedures.
• Knowledge of Laboratory Medicine and Medicine principles to interpret results and understand clinical relevance.
• Experience with Quality Control processes, calibration, and documentation to ensure accurate and compliant laboratory operations.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field (preferred)
• Relevant certification (e.g., Florida Clinical Laboratory, ASCP, AMT) required.
• Understanding of laboratory safety standards, infection control, and regulatory guidelines (e.g., CLIA, OSHA).
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Comfort with basic laboratory information systems (LIS), especially Labdaq and electronic health records; ability to learn new technologies as needed.
• Experience with EHR platforms, especially eClinical Works
• ExperienceMinimum of one year of relevant clinical laboratory experience.
• Experience working independently in a physician-office or outpatient clinical laboratory environment is highly desirable.
