APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

Location: Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN metro

Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever (PF & QF) are non-profit organizations dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public access, education, and conservation advocacy.
Job Description:
The Application Development Manager will be responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of mission-critical systems including our Upland Event Platform mobile app, CMS platforms, Point-of-Sale applications, and integrations with internal and external systems. This role will be expected to use expertise in full-stack development, cloud-based platforms, mobile app development, and back-end systems to be a hands-on leader that can manage and mentor a growing team.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement end-to-end software development lifecycle on multiple concurrent projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and to high-quality standards
  • Maintain and monitor existing systems and integrations, help identify systems, integrations and code in need of upgrades in order to improve system performance, health, and availability
  • Work closely with various external partners and contractors as needed, to ensure work is being done in an efficient, timely manner to the coding standards Pheasants Forever has in place
  • Mentor and help grow a team of developers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability
  • Collaborate effectively with other IT staff and cross-functional team members
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with Pheasants Forever coding standards, processes, and procedures
  • Work closely with our IT Project Manager to facilitate resource management, define and estimate work items, and assign tasks to team members

Required Experience

  • Four-year degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience of team and project management
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred
  • Possess a strong technical background, including experience in full-stack development, mobile app development, cloud-based platforms, and design principles and patterns.
  • Core Development Skills: C#, .NET, Java, Mobile App Development, Modern Web frameworks (VueJs, React, Angular or similar), Platform customization (Umbraco, Microsoft CRM, Great Plains or similar)
  • Strict adherence to industry standards and best practices
  • Source code build automation and deployment pipelines
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with multiple departments, teammates, and stakeholders of varying technical backgrounds
  • Previous management experience is a plus
  • Provide constructive feedback and support to team members to keep them motivated
  • Display strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to adapt quickly to changing project requirements and environments
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail, including excellent organizational & multitasking skills
