JOB TITLE: MOBILE ARMED SECURITY OFFICER Location: Chicago, Illinois & Surrounding Areas Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $19.00 – $20.00 per hour Schedule: Must have open availability (morning, evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts) Level: Experienced COMPANY OVERVIEW KATES DETECTIVE & SECURITY AGENCY INC is a licensed and respected Chicago-based security firm providing professional security and investigative services. POSITION SUMMARY We are seeking experienced and professional Mobile Armed Security Officers to provide high-visibility patrol services across client locations. This role requires operating company vehicles, responding to incidents, and maintaining a strong security presence while delivering excellent customer service. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * Must be 25 years of age or older (insurance requirement for company vehicle operation) * Valid Illinois PERC Card * Valid FOID Card (physical card required) * 20-Hour Unarmed Security Training Certificate * 40-Hour Firearm Training Certificate * Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record * High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) * Handcuff Certification * Valid government-issued photo ID * Social Security Card or Birth Certificate (original document required) * Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and other pre-employment screenings as permitted by law EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS * Minimum 3–5 years of security experience required * 2–5 years of mobile patrol experience strongly preferred * Strong written and verbal communication skills * Ability to remain calm, professional, and responsive in high-pressure situations KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Conduct mobile patrols using company vehicles and/or foot patrols * Maintain a visible security presence to deter criminal activity * Monitor premises and identify potential risks or safety hazards * Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, and alarms * De-escalate conflicts and assist individuals as needed * Complete accurate and timely incident reports and daily activity logs * Follow all post orders and client-specific instructions * Communicate effectively with supervisors, dispatch, and clients * Ensure compliance with all company policies and applicable laws and regulations * Assist emergency responders and provide first aid/CPR if certified CORE COMPETENCIES * Strong situational awareness and attention to detail * Professional demeanor and customer service orientation * Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills * Reliability, accountability, and integrity * Ability to work independently and as part of a team WORK ENVIRONMENT & EXPECTATIONS * Outdoor and indoor patrol in various weather conditions * Extended periods of standing, walking, and driving * Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays HOW TO APPLY * Apply online via company website or job boards (e.g., Indeed, ZipRecruiter) * Walk-in applications welcome: Tuesdays & Thursdays | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM 7815 S.
