MOBILE CRISIS WORKER, REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE (RPN) – TORONTO COMMUNITY CRISIS SERVICES (FULL-TIME PERMANENT)
The Role and Opportunity
The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) – Toronto is looking for a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) for the Toronto Community Crisis Service (TCCS). This service provides 24/7 support to people experiencing a mental health and/or addiction crisis in northwest Toronto. This program is part of a City of Toronto police reform initiative that is evaluating the effectiveness and impact of non-police-led responses to people experiencing non-emergency crises. This program aims to reduce the harms experienced by people who have mental health and addictions challenges as well as Black, Indigenous, racialized, LGBTQ2+ and other marginalized individuals. The TCCS is governed in partnership with a Collaborative which includes the following organizations:
You are passionate about using your nursing skills to provide direct support to people experiencing crisis in our city. As a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), you will contribute your expertise to a community-led solution that responds to mental health crisis calls and wellness checks as part of a multi-disciplinary Mobile Crisis Response Team. This team provides crisis response 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and may include other nurses, peer specialists, mental health clinicians, and concurrent disorders specialists. In this role, you will apply your nursing skills to deliver crisis intervention, de-escalation, harm reduction, suicide prevention, and recovery-oriented care to support individuals and families in the northwest area of Toronto.
Hourly Rate: $32.30 – $35.39
Hours of Work: 36 per week (7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am on a rotational basis)
Location: 700 Lawrence Ave. W, Suite 326 and in the community

RESPONSIBILITIES
The RPN will apply expertise in psychiatric nursing care, crisis assessment and intervention, de-escalation, harm reduction, suicide prevention, anti-oppressive practice, client-centered and recovery-oriented care, trauma-informed care, and culturally responsive care to support individuals and families experiencing crisis in northwest Toronto. Reporting to the Senior Manager, the RPN will work in alignment with CMHA’s mission and strategic directions.
