We’re looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as an iOS Mobile Developer, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining essential public-facing applications such as NYC 311 and Notify NYC. These applications serve more than 500,000 users annually, and your work will be pivotal in ensuring their continued success and modernization.
About our team: The DevOps team at OTI primarily builds public-facing and internal web applications to support City initiatives and operations. We take pride in utilizing modern technologies for most of our application portfolio, including AWS, containerization, and Azure DevOps. As an iOS Mobile Developer, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing mobile applications, ensuring they remain up to date with iOS standards, and delivering an excellent user experience. Your expertise will be critical in driving innovation and resolving technical challenges, ensuring the continued success of these vital services for New York City.

Responsibilities will include:

• Develop and maintain iOS mobile applications using modern iOS tools and frameworks.
• Collaborate with teams to design and enhance mobile apps serving 500,000+ NYC residents.
• Ensure apps meet iOS standards, delivering high performance and a user-friendly experience.
• Work closely with backend teams to integrate mobile applications with APIs and services.
• Apply secure coding best practices to safeguard user data and ensure privacy compliance.
• Resolve technical challenges while ensuring mobile solution stability and scalability.
• Mentor junior developers on mobile development best practices and technologies.
• Collaborate with technical and business teams to align mobile solutions with City goals.
• Perform special projects and assignments, as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
2. An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, digital and graphics design, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
3. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area(s) required by the particular position and a specialization in a relevant technology, process, methodology and/or domain; or
4. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to “1”, “2”, or “3” above.

PREFERRED SKILLS

Who Are You? - Passionate about creating mobile applications that make a positive impact on NYC residents. - Excited by challenges and eager to deliver solutions that improve the City’s mobile services. - Enthusiastic about building seamless, high-performance, and secure mobile apps. Preferred Skills: - 5+ years of experience as an iOS Mobile Developer, with expertise in developing and deploying production-grade mobile applications. - Strong proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI and Objective-C for iOS development. - Experience integrating mobile with backend services via RESTful APIs and cloud-based solutions. - Knowledge of secure coding practices for mobile apps to ensure user data protection. - Familiarity with CI/CD tools, such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps. - Experience with mobile app monitoring, analytics, and debugging tools. - Knowledge of iOS app store submission guidelines and troubleshooting potential app rejections. - Strong understanding of mobile offline storage, app performance optimization, UI/UX best practices, and ensuring smooth user interactions. - Knowledge of AI/ML, LLMs, and GenAI applications. - Experience with Android development is a plus.
