Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Overtime is available No rotating shifts Paid holidays (no waiting period) Benefits: Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off, start earning day 1 Tool Allowance & Boot Reimbursement Work Environment: Mobile service role supporting refuse customers throughout the Hampton Roads area Work performed at customer locations with a fully equipped service vehicle Specialty work on refuse trucks and heavy-duty waste equipment Key Job Duties: Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing air and hydraulic brake systems including shoes, calipers, drums, rotors, and cylinders Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing coolant systems including radiators, hoses, heater cores, belts, and related components Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing refuse electrical systems including wiring, lighting systems, electrical control systems, switches, batteries, regulators, alternators, and black box systems Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing running gear and drivetrain components including drive shafts, u-joints, and transmissions (automatic and manual) Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing vehicle body components including windows, regulators, door locks, and related parts Maintaining, repairing and/or replacing chassis components including wheel bearings, steering components, seals, and related parts Performing quality assessments of completed repairs to ensure vehicles and systems are operating properly and safely Accurately documenting repairs, labor time, and parts usage Requirements What we’re looking for: Diesel mechanic experience, preferably with heavy duty trucks or refuse vehicles Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation Ability to pass pre-employment screening Who does well here: Mechanics who take pride in their work Team players who also work well independently People who like variety and solving problems Technicians who value clean shops and doing things the right way Work environment and physical demands This role includes standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, and climbing The position involves exposure to typical shop and field conditions such as noise, odors, grease, and outdoor weather Are you looking for steady hours and a predictable schedule while working on specialized equipment that keeps communities running?
