Description
Description Keep the Iron Running. Keep the Operation Moving. At York Building Products, our equipment is the backbone of our operation—and we need a mechanic who knows how to keep it alive and working hard. If you’re the type who can hear a machine and know what’s wrong… if you don’t mind grease on your hands or mud on your boots… and if you take pride in fixing the equipment others can’t—this job is for you. What You’ll Tackle You’ll maintain and repair a fleet of heavy hitters: loaders, dozers, excavators, scrapers, haul trucks, backhoes, service trucks, and company vehicles. When something breaks, you're the one we count on to get it back in the dirt fast. Your day will include: Performing routine checks and logging inspections in our CMMS. Running full preventative maintenance—greasing, adjusting, cleaning, and keeping machines battle-ready. Diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems, engines, transmissions, drives, and electrical systems. Running equipment after repairs to ensure it’s safe, strong, and ready for the field. Staying ahead of breakdowns by planning repairs and minimizing downtime. Cutting, welding, fabricating, and installing parts as needed using torches, welders, and plasma cutters. Working with strict attention to safety and MSHA/OSHA rules. Stepping up for whatever the day throws at you. What You Bring to the Table 3+ years working on diesel trucks and heavy equipment. A valid driver’s license with a clean record. Hands-on experience with engine overhauls, brakes, electrical troubleshooting, and full equipment service. Ability to think fast, fix fast, and work with a team or on your own. Strong communication skills and willingness to work overtime when needed. Experience using OEM diagnostic software to hunt down issues. Your Work Environment You’ll work where the machines work—inside the shop or out in the elements. Heat, cold, dust, rain, mud—this job doesn’t stop for weather. You’ll also run various types of heavy equipment when needed. Safety isn’t optional. It’s the way we work. Physical Demands Walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Must be capable of doing the job safely and efficiently. What We Offer Competitive pay Medical, Dental & Vision insurance Paid vacation & holidays Retirement plan & 401(k) Life & Disability Insurance About York Building Products For more than 85 years, we’ve built our reputation on hard work, dependable people, and rock-solid materials.
