Description Viking Aggregates Mobile Field Service Technician is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on a variety of heavy construction equipment, including loader, skid loaders diesel engines (dredges), dump trucks, various types of Crushers, conveyors and related machinery, directly at job sites or field locations. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills. This is a mobile position requiring independent work at multiple job sites with a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and attention to detail. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Maintains a clean, well-organized, and safe working environment. Professionally communicating in a polite, friendly manner. Operate and maintain a mobile lube/service truck, keeping it clean, stocked, and in proper working condition. Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy construction equipment, dump trucks, and concrete mixers. Respond to field service calls in a timely manner, ensuring minimal downtime for equipment. Communicate with shop/operations regarding repair status, recommendations, and equipment conditions Order and obtain parts from vendors Document inspections and maintenance services using Fleetio work orders, noting equipment condition, service performed, and any deficiencies found. Follow all site safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE when working on job sites and around heavy machinery. Mentor and train fellow team mates on PM maintenance. Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and increase equipment up time. Create and maintain PM service plan and detailed records on all key equipment. Knowledge/Skill Requirements Strong understanding and knowledge of truck systems: engine, aftertreatment, electrical, braking, drivetrain, hydraulics components. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and troubleshooting methods and software applications. Best practices for routine maintenance, repair schedules, and minimizing downtime. OEM guidelines and service intervals for different truck makes and models. DOT & Regulatory Compliance; In-depth understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) rules. Emissions standards and inspection protocols. Safety Standards; MSHA,OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices. Safe handling of tools, heavy equipment, and hazardous materials. Must be able to multitask and work effectively under time and scheduling conflicts. Ability to research read and interpret technical documents, schematics, and bulletins. Ability to read, write, and accurately perform basic mathematical functions including adding, subtracting, multiplication and division. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Must possess knowledge of Company policies and procedures. Must consistently produce efficient, accurate work product. Work Requirements Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL or ability to obtain one is a plus. Must possess proper tools to efficiently perform repairs. Must be at least 18 years in age or older. Must pass post-offer employment drug screen, background check, physical, and motor vehicle record (MVR) review. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers and/or supervisors with other duties as required. Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Skeletal, joint and muscle system must withstand continuous impact from driving activities.
