Department: SOM KC Cancer Center Administration ----- Masonic Cancer Alliance Position Title: Mobile Health Screening Vehicle Operator (PRN) - Cancer Center Job Family Group: Professional Staff Job Description Summary: The Mobile Health Screening (back up/as needed) Vehicle Operator is responsible for safely driving and maintaining a 45-foot mobile health screening vehicle across the state of Kansas and western Missouri. This role involves driving the MMU to various screening locations, performing basic vehicle maintenance, documentation, checklist completion, patient interaction, mechanical troubleshooting and ensuring the vehicle is properly equipped and ready for each event. The MMU Driver will work closely with the MMU Coordinator to support the delivery of high-quality events in our coverage area. The University of Kansas Cancer Center is the only National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the region, 1 of only 57 in the nation to receive this distinction. Patients gain access to the most promising therapies, cutting-edge clinical trials and world class research. This role will provide support on an as-needed (PRN) basis. Job Description: Job Responsibilities Operate a 45-foot mobile health screening vehicle to various locations across Kansas and western Missouri. Navigate rural and urban routes, ensuring timely arrival at each destination. Obey all traffic laws and ensure the safety of all participants and staff. Perform basic vehicle maintenance (e.g., oil checks, tire inspections, ensuring vehicle cleanliness, disposing of black and grey water, etc.). Conduct regular safety checks. Document maintenance activities and complete pre-trip and post-trip checklists. Troubleshoot mechanical issues and coordinate with repair services. Ensure vehicle compliance with state and federal transportation regulations. Execute and update policies and procedures of vehicle. Interface with local organizations and authorities. Pre-plan route to assure adequate road conditions for vehicle travel and local ordinances relating to parking. Provide staff orientation on vehicle procedures and safety protocols (e.g. annually, new hires, day of event). Greet patients upon arrival, provide directions, and assist with patient registration, billing and clinic workflow in a respectful and culturally appropriate manner. Responsible for vehicle setup/teardown, including awnings, flags, tables, tents, chairs, etc. Disinfect interior of vehicle post use and clean exterior. Fuel vehicle including diesel and propane. Certifications/Licenses: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class B, at the time of hire and throughout employment. Work Experience: One (1) year of experience driving large vehicles (45 feet or similar preferred). Preferred Qualifications Work Experience: Experience in a healthcare or customer-facing role. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding.
