Description
The Mobility Aide is responsible for safely ambulating patients in the acute care setting, addressing the risk of immobility. They guide eligible patients through the program, utilizing suitable ambulation devices, and educate them on associated risks. The role involves motivating and encouraging patients to mobilize. The Mobility Aide may assist with lift equipment maintenance and inventory ensuring alignment with Tampa General Hospital's mission, vision, and values. The Mobility Aide performs routine duties within the limits of training in caring for the hospitalized patient. The Mobility Aide will perform other duties related to the work described herein. Assists with direct patient care, including personal hygiene and ambulation, within the populations served. Assists with interdisciplinary team (Nurses, physical/occupational therapist or physical/occupational therapist assistant, patient care assistants) in providing routine mobilization of patients within their assigned departments, which include duties such as mobilizing patients to walk, assisting patients to a chair, assisting in providing passive range of motion, utilizing lifts to assist patients to a chair, understanding/acquiring vital signs as needed. Essential Functions Prioritizes patient list based on diagnosis, mobility level, and patient schedule. Maintains a clean, organized environment. Assists patients with activities of daily living limiting to the toileting and toilet transfer. Responds immediately and appropriately to inquiries, requests and patient call lights. Ambulates patients safely. Assist patients from the bed to the chair and vice versa. Provides active and passive range of motion exercises to patients. Assist patients in bed mobility (bed rolling, supine to sit, sit to supine, sit to stand, stand to sit) safely. Performs additional tasks as assigned ie. Hoyer lift, sit to stand transfer under the supervision of PT/OT/PCT or RN. Willingly performs other duties as needed. Education High School Diploma or GED Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Red Cross or American Heart Association
