Franciscan Health Indianapolis Campus 8111 S Emerson Ave Indianapolis, Indiana 46237 The Mobility Technician assists patients in mobility and positioning, activities of daily living, and basic care within critical, medical-surgical, or other acute care hospital units. Completes documentation of mobility using an assessment scale. Strives to continue, improve and maintain patient satisfaction results and functional outcomes. Is flexible per needs of the patient, and takes direction from the nursing and therapy staff. Is responsible to develop as a peer leader, learning effective clinical decision-making skills, safe mobility techniques, appropriate use of mobility equipment, and is capable of teaching these skills to others. WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT Provide mobility opportunities for the various medical surgical patients, including bed mobility, upright Sitting, transfers, wheelchair use and ambulation using the move protocol following nursing assessment. Take and record vital signs as appropriate for the patient population, and communicates results of vital signs. Signs and mobility levels to unit nursing staff. Provide clear and effective patient education about the importance of mobility and vertical positioning. Progressing from in to out of bed, and fall prevention. Offer assistance in accessing our facility such as opening doors, helping with wheel chairs, elevators, walkers, etc. Take initiative to complete work, and meets productivity standards. Develop as a resource for patient mobility, serving as a mentor to floor staff in environmental set up, the use of devices, mobility techniques and body mechanics to safely promote the highest level of patient mobility.
