Description

Overview:
Bowhead is seeking a Mid-Level Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to join our team that supports the Hypersonics Projectiles Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren.
In this role, you will apply model-based engineering techniques to design, develop, and analyze complex systems across multiple domains. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create digital models, system architectures, and simulations that enhance system reliability, efficiency, and integration.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement model-based system engineering methodologies to support system design and development.
  • Create and maintain system models, architectures, and digital twins using industry-standard tools (e.g., Innoslate, Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect).
  • Define requirements, interfaces, and behaviors within a structured MBSE framework.
  • Support trade studies, analysis, and validation to ensure design feasibility and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, stakeholders, and project managers to ensure model alignment with program objectives.
  • Contribute to system integration, testing, and verification using model-based techniques.
  • Document and communicate model findings, results, and recommendations through reports and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Proficiency in MBSE tools such as Cameo, SysML, MATLAB/Simulink, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, requirements management, and digital modeling techniques.
  • Experience with simulation, analysis, and trade studies for complex systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or technology sectors using MBSE methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Model-Based Design (MBD), Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), or Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) simulations.
  • Certification in INCOSE, MBSE, or Systems Engineering a plus.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
