Leidos’ Defense Systems, Sensor Systems Analysis & Engineering Portfolio, is seeking a Junior Modeling & Simulation Engineer/Analyst to join our team for modeling & simulation applications. You will join a diverse team of junior-to-senior software developers, engineers, and scientists to help create unique solutions for complex problems. Our team solves important problems that make a difference and support our customers in the current and future defense of our nation; primarily in (but not limited to) the areas of sensor integration, testing, characterization, modeling, simulation, data analysis, and algorithm development for EO/IR systems. The ideal engineering candidate will also demonstrate experience in and/or enthusiasm toward developing a broader technical capability to support overlapping engineering and scientific disciplines with but a particular focus on analyzing data to solve complex problems. The position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and demonstrated proficiency in physics fundamentals, data analysis, and programming. Candidates will be expected to support multiple tasks in parallel, productively contribute to a team environment, and communicate effectively to management, coworkers, and customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, optical engineering, engineering physics, software engineering, computer science, or an equivalent engineering or science degree with relevant experience plus 2-4 years of experience in a related field.

  • Driven and engaged in their work while simultaneously demonstrating high character, given that they will often be working on sensitive and unique problems which require a high degree of trust from our customers.

  • Must be a US citizen, possess and be able to maintain an active DoD security clearance (SECRET or above).

  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville – North Alabama, AL, area.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS.


  • In addition to the qualifications listed above, the ideal candidate should be willing to take on greater roles and responsibilities in time such as task lead, team lead, and technical lead.

  • Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following: recent stellar academic performance, familiarity or interest in EO/IR phenomenology or algorithms; experience with image processing; experience with GPU programming and/or CUDA programming; experience with developing AI/ML solutions.
Responsibilities

  • Work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to analyze a variety of data to solve problems in a variety of disciplines to include EO/IR sensor systems. Candidate may be expected to evaluate and optimize algorithm performance.

  • Have the ability to work and communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team while having familiarity with software tools often used for analysis.
