OVERVIEW

We are seeking a skilled Moldmaker to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in machining and fabrication, with expertise in various manufacturing processes. This role involves the design, creation, and maintenance of molds used in the production of plastic components. The Moldmaker will work closely with engineers and other team members to ensure high-quality standards are met while adhering to project timelines.

2. QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum grade 12 diploma or equivalent
· 10+ years of experience in injection molding environment as a MOLD maker
· Must have a valid forklift driver’s license and crane licencse.

3. SKILLS:

· Basic English reading and writing.
· Must have a good problem-solving skill
· Basic understanding of IATF 16949, ISO 14001 company quality & environmental policies and expectations
· Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
· Must be able to work independently or as part of a team

Responsibilities

· Adhere to corporate safety policies and procedures
· Manage maintenance activities for all Injection Molds
· Mold tear down, perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) requirements and assemble Mold
· Assess & Determine Action required to resolve the issues found during PM
· Good understanding of mold construction, mold components and requirements for optimum function such as parting line, venting techniques, runner and gate design, etc.
· Must have solid understanding of Hot runner - Mechanical, Electrical and Hydraulic function
· Understand Hot drop function and movement of internal components
· Solid Understanding of Proper wiring, connections, and electrical values for heaters, thermocouples, plug-in connectors, and OHM meter readings
· Solid Understanding of Hydraulic hook up for valve gates and function
· Understand Water and Cooling requirements
· Understand Mold Repair requirement and proper function of molds in the injection press.
· Assess and repair the mechanical function of the mold and its components
· Full understanding of Cavity and Core surface for optimum quality and daily performance
· Must know how to Assess and repair flash using proper welding techniques
· Good understanding of Textures and Graining
· Assess steel condition and finished part appearance, determine action required to solve quality issues resulted from steel condition
· Must know how to perform sandblasting of cavity surface to maintain required part finish
· Must have a good understanding of selecting proper sand/glass and equipment to perform sand blasting
· Must have a very good knowledge using welding equipment such as TIG and Micro Welding of cavity/core surfaces
· Must have a machining knowledge in the Tool Room and capability to perform basic machining using equipment such as Milling, Lathe, Surface Grinder, Pedestal Grinder, Drill Press, Band Saw, etc.
· Must be able to use Measuring Tools (micrometers, calipers, height gage, surface plate, etc.
· Good knowledge of injection molding equipment and auxiliaries
· Ability to read and understand mold drawings
· Maintain PM Log – Input required information into Plex system for PM tracking and ordering
· Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic schematics (prints)
· Participate in problem solving activities
· Must clean up after each tool PM and return all tools to proper locations
· Must ensure that tool repair / PM work stations are safe and clean
· Must know proper use of spill kits and proper disposition of oily rags
· Wear all safety PPE, Shoes, Gloves, Safety Glasses, Mask, Ear muff when and wherever required
· Ensure to follow LOTO procedure when and wherever required
· Perform other duties assigned by reporting manager
