Description
Position Overview The Molecular Technologist is responsible for performing patient testing in the laboratory. This position reports to the Technical Supervisor/ General Supervisor. Essential Job Functions Perform complex clinical testing in operations and R&D settings. Prepare human biological material for genetic analysis. This may include buccal swabs, blood, body fluids, and/or tissues. Analyzes test results for acceptability against set controls and enters findings into the computer database. Operate complex equipment to prepare biologic specimens, to calibrate instrumentation, and to validate quality of assay. Perform cleaning, maintenance, alignment procedures, quality assurance assays, and troubleshooting on complex and testing equipment. Maintain daily/weekly logs and QC documents for assays and equipment. Prepare stock solutions and reagents following standard operating procedures and quality control procedures. Record quality control of reagent preparation. Recognize and resolve problems or report to supervisor/manager. Perform proficiency testing to maintain compliance with internal and external regulatory agencies. Monitor inventory levels of reagents and consumables and provide alerts to inventory coordinator if needed. Develop or assist in the development of clinical assays and the validation. Remain competent in all areas of the laboratory. Maintain clean laboratory space. Train on new assays. Supervise and train junior laboratory staff. Attending webinars and relevant training. Maintain appropriate certifications. Identify and elevate Reportable Quality incidents to manager. Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and work in a fast paced environment. Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills when interacting with internal and external customers. Strong independent problem solving skills. Demonstrate willingness to accept additional responsibility with a positive attitude. Demonstrate ability to work independently and with a team. Demonstrate good data entry skills. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree required MB(ASCP) certification strongly recommended Fluent using MS Word, & Excel Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills when interacting with internal and external customers.
