Department Overview With decades of academic laboratory experience in pathology and genetics, the Knight Diagnostic Laboratories deliver advanced diagnostic testing to make personalized medicine a reality. Specializing in oncology, rare genetic disorders, and infectious disease, the laboratories are CLIA certified and CAP accredited. Our Medical Directors and seasoned technical staff have many years of experience in clinical testing and test development and provide the best quality service for physicians and their patients. Through our close partnership with the Knight BioLibrary and Histopathology Shared Resource Laboratories, research investigators can gain access to human biological specimens, histology, and immunohistochemistry services. This may involve both routine clinical test throughput and new clinical test validation. Wet bench procedures and data analysis will be performed on platforms including but not limited to next generation sequencing, digital/RQ-PCR, etc. This position requires familiarity with clinical laboratory regulations (CAP and CLIA) pertaining to routine lab operations and new test validation. A strong background is also required in molecular biology principles and processes, as well as knowledge of laboratory and molecular biology-specific terminology, equipment, materials, techniques, and safety. Additional requirements include the ability to follow strict SOPs, written and oral instructions accurately, and to troubleshoot procedures. This position will enable the laboratory to provide high quality diagnostic testing services that support the overall patient care mission of the Knight Cancer Institute. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a biological science AND completion of a training program or one year of experience performing molecular techniques; MT or MLS certification preferred OR An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; MT or MLS certification preferred Ability to complete time-sensitive tasks according to protocols Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at one time Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as superb analytical and organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team while being collaborative in resolving problems Ability to use tact and diplomacy to maintain effective working relationships Preferred Qualifications MS degree in biological sciences AND MT or MLS certification with 2-3 years of clinical molecular laboratory experience preferred Next-generation sequencing wet bench and data analysis; clinical laboratory throughput and new clinical test validation Oncology experience Additional Details Apply online.
