QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three or more years of experience in collection of delinquent accounts for a financial institution, or equivalent experience in a collection department. Experience in Mortgage collections preferred.
  • Demonstrated understanding of foreclosure procedures and/or property management preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to manage sensitive financial discussions.
  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Competent computer skills and use of standard office equipment.
  • A patient yet firm demeanor.
  • Ability to meet, speak, and deal effectively with people, being professional always.
  • Must maintain a neat and professional appearance.
  • While the following list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented, identified physical requirements include the ability to operate normal office equipment and some lifting, not to exceed 25 pounds.

Responsibilities
  • Begin collection process on all consumer and commercial mortgage loans 15+ days delinquent.
  • Work within general guidelines in collection activities, exercising judgment, experience and objectives established by the collection manager to determine the effective approach and follow-up action.
  • Reach out to borrower(s) in attempting to obtain past due payments using multi-channel communications such as telephone, letters, email, and/or text.
  • Monitor and manage delinquent loans until accounts are brought current or otherwise resolved in an effort to maximize collateral retention, minimize losses and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with Mortgage and Commercial teams to pursue loan modification opportunities based on borrower(s) feasibility.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and legal counsel to manage the foreclosure process.
  • Prepare and file all necessary documentation to ensure timely progression in foreclosure proceedings.
  • When applicable, oversee the reassignment of rents to maintain asset performance. This process will require senior management’s approval.
  • Consult with and manage external vendors or property management firms to ensure efficient handling and maintenance tasks for all OREO properties.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of collection efforts, escalations, and recovery outcomes.
  • Prepare regular performance and status report for senior management.
  • Preform inspections on OREO properties when needed.
  • Make court appearances as a representative of the credit union when needed.
  • Adheres to all Red River Employees Federal Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
