SUMMARY:

Ark Mortgage is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mortgage Underwriter to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting both conventional and non-qualified mortgage products, such as DSCR loans, bank statement loans, jumbo loans, and more. As a key part of our operations, you will ensure loan applications meet company guidelines, industry standards, and regulatory requirements while maintaining excellent internal customer service throughout the process.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of mortgage underwriting experience with both conventional and Non-QM products.
  • Extensive experience with underwriting DSCR loans, bank statement loans, jumbo loans, and other Non-QM loan products.
  • Thorough understanding of FNMA/FHLMC guidelines, and federal mortgage regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risk and make sound decisions based on company guidelines and borrower qualifications.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency with mortgage underwriting software and tools.
  • Must be able to work between the hours of 9AM-6PM EST

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certification as a Direct Endorsement (DE) Underwriter is a plus.

Responsibilities
  • Review and underwrite conventional and Non-QM mortgage loan applications, including but not limited to DSCR, bank statement, and jumbo loans.
  • Analyze credit, income, assets, and collateral documentation to assess borrower qualifications and adherence to underwriting guidelines.
  • Evaluate risk, identify potential fraud, and ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Collaborate with Loan Officers, Processors, and other team members to resolve underwriting questions and issues.
  • Provide clear, concise underwriting conditions and communicate decisions to relevant stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on mortgage underwriting trends, product guidelines, and changes in regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain underwriting pipeline within established timelines to ensure timely loan decisions.
  • Work with management on more complex loan scenarios and participate in underwriting reviews and audits as needed.
