Description:
Will consider remote applicants from the following states: MN, SD, IA, MO, AR, WI, or FL. Pay Range: $64,000 - $95,000. Underwrite mortgage loan applications in accordance with industry standards, investor requirements and Heritage Bank loan policy to minimize potential risk or loss.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite a full range of mortgage loans including Agency, Jumbo, FHA, and VA loans
  • Proactively manage a pipline of loans and ensure all documentation meets company guidelines
  • Provide best-in-class client service through professional communication and with internal and external customers.
  • Analyze and evaluate loan applications and supporting documentation to determine program eligibility, credit worthiness and assess the repayment capacity in order to maximize profit and minimize risk or loss.
  • Communicate the written underwriting findings and assist with possible resolutions to deficiencies found in the file.

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for performing professional and accurate service.
  • Attends committee assignments and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Responsible for compliance with laws and regulations applicable to this position.
  • Participates in Team / Committee meetings as assigned.
  • Participates in all required BSA training and demonstrates the knowledge of BSA relative to job responsibilities.
  • Responsible for security as it applies to this position.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required; BA or BS desired

Experience

  • 3-5 years of mortgage underwriting experience required, ideally with 2 years in FHA/VA loans
  • FHA Direct Endorsement, VA-SAR, and LAPP certifications desired
  • Proficiency with automated underwriting systems
  • Self-starter with strong work ethic and professionalism
