JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the General Manager and Owner, the Mortgage Underwriter Manager is responsible for overseeing the underwriting function within the brokerage. This role ensures that mortgage applications are assessed in accordance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and investor guidelines. The Manager will provide expert credit analysis, make sound recommendations, and foster strong relationships with lenders, referral sources, and clients.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assemble, organize and review application, financial information, and applicant’s documents.
  • Provide credit decision experience on complex mortgage packages.
  • Liaison with investors.
  • Stay in constant communication with referral sources at all levels of the application process.
  • Prepare an application and determine which lender is the best fit for the clients’ needs and request appropriate documentation to get the application approved.
  • Evaluate and analyse documentation supplied by client.
  • Effectively handle customer inquiries with the utmost service.
  • Analyze information and reach a pre-approval recommendation.
  • Revise and update procedures as necessary.
  • Enter data and perform day to day clerical duties as needed.
  • Ensure confidentiality of records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Licensed Mortgage Agent, Level 2
  • Minimum 5 years of mortgage underwriting experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian mortgage products, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex financial documents and make sound credit decisions.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage competing priorities.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $90,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • Mortgage Underwriting: 5 years (preferred)
  • Managerial: 2 years (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

  • Mortgage License Level 2 (preferred)
