Responsibilities

DUTIES OF AN MORTUARY ASSISTANT INCLUDE:

  • Perform body preparation procedures such as manoeuvring, lifting, washing, dressing, suturing, and setting facial features for all cases to InvoCare standards and follow workplace procedures for hygiene and infection control
  • Encoffin and present the deceased to InvoCare standards and according to family requests
  • Handle deceased with dignity, care and respect at all times
  • Accurately complete mortuary registration and checking procedures
  • Maintain, clean and sterilise mortuary facilities and equipment
  • Perform coffin/casket trimming and engraving
  • Organise time efficiently and monitor daily workflow
  • Monitor stock levels and order as directedParticipate in day-to-day operational tasks such as attending funerals, transfers, viewings, driving vehicles, and keeping work areas clean and tidy
