Description Are you looking for a fun summer job where you can make a difference? MOSAIC Innovation Camp is a brand new summer offering for Middle School students in the Mamaroneck school district focusing on fun career skills development while building a diverse community where anyone can be anything they want to be. What you'll be doing You’re joining a summer camp team where roles and tasks are collaborative and shared. As a Project Based Educator you’ll be responsible for creating project based youth education experiences taught in our SPARK Labs, aligning with the career topics chosen for the week by the Director. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES: The duties for this role include, but are not limited to: Design and implement project-based program blocks, called “Spark Labs”, that promote learning through interdisciplinary thematic inquiry having direct connections to potential career pathways Collaborate with the Director to identify related career connections and professionals to work with campers as well as career based field trips to reinforce weekly career themes Adapt materials and projects to meet the needs of diverse age groups in rising grades 6 through 8. Implement the Spark Lab curriculum as four 1.25 hour hands-on learning blocks and one associated field trip weekly for one, two, or three weeks: Week 1 - Unlock Your Genetic Code or CoDrone EDU, Week 2 - What’s Your Blood Type of Make It Count, Week 3 - Wheels or Deals Provide curriculum specific supply lists based upon recommended budgets to the Director at least one month prior to the start of the program Mentor Counselors and LITs assisting in your program blocks giving direct guidance, explanations and clear instructions for maximum effectiveness Supervise and assist Spark Lab associated field trips weekly Supervise and assist campers with the goals of: Promoting collaboration among campers & staff Establishing a mutual attitude of caring and creating among all campers & staff Helping campers acquire new career based skills and interests during their program blocks Infusing all activities with fun Enforce the highest level of safety at all times, adhering to camp policies and procedures Requirements We are looking for team players who are friendly, flexible, and want to give back. 15%+ of staff have been working for us for 5+ years. We build commitment and community. Minimum 3 years of teaching experience or working professionally in a school setting Bachelor’s degree in education or related field; high preference given to those with experience in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education, and/or Teaching English to Students of Other Languages Besides that you might: Have a desire to make a difference in the lives of kids Are Bilingual (Spanish/English) Love to explore cool career choices with hands on experiences All employees must: Possess a valid social security card and NYS state identification Take a background check with fingerprint approval if you are not a Mamaroneck School District employee (we will provide instructions as part of the onboarding process) Provide two professional references if you are not a Mamaroneck School District employee and are a new Co-Op employee Have availability to work the entire camp season and attend all required orientations and trainings REQUIRED PROGRAM DATES & TIMES: Camp-season: All Educators must attend orientation week June 29 - July 2 (no camp July 3rd) One, two or three weeks, depending on contract Week 1 - July 6 - 10 Week 2 - July 13 - 17 Week 3 - July 20 - 24 8:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Orientation week days (June 29 - Jul 2) 8:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.
