Responsibilities

As a Motor Controls Engineer, Firmware and Testing, you will support the development of advanced motor control system for magnetic and electromechanical products. You will play a pivotal role in accelerating adoption of Iron Nitride-based magnets by helping to design motors using Iron Nitride magnets for our customers. You will work on a team who is critical to bringing Niron’s novel product to market. We have a once-in-a-generation new magnetic material. We are building a world-class motor team, and we are looking for its founding members.

  • Firmware Technical Expertise
  • Design, implement, and optimize embedded firmware for electric motor control applications (including permanent magnet motors).
  • Develop control algorithms (e.g., FOC, PID) and integrate with hardware platforms (MCUs, DSPs).
  • Write clean, maintainable C/C++ code for real-time systems.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality documentation of design
  • Testing and Documentation
  • Design and execute test plans for firmware and motor control systems.
  • Use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power analyzers, dynamometers) to validate performance and troubleshoot issues.
  • Create repeatable, sustainable processes which are documented
  • Cross-functional collaboration
  • Collaborate cross-functionally magnet and motor design teams to ensure alignment between motor-level and material-level performance
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and participate in design reviews
