Description
JOB SUMMARY Under direct supervision, performs skilled labor in the maintenance of Town’s drainage systems. Work involves cleaning ditches, building catch basis, laying pipe, etc.; and perform work clearing rights-of-ways and other special projects as assigned. Reports to Maintenance Construction Supervisor   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS * Cuts grass, trees, and brush as needed to clear and/or maintain right-of-ways using a bush hog. * Performs general labor on the maintenance and construction of drainage systems, piping, etc. * Conducts general duties such as cleaning up around assigned areas, maintaining equipment, etc. * Provides assistance as necessary in emergency situations and during after hours or inclement weather conditions. * Provides assistance to coworkers as required to promote safety and efficiency; may be assigned to orient and train new employees in the performance of job duties. * Refers to policy and procedure manuals, codes / laws / regulations, publications and reference texts, etc. * Uses a variety of tools such as grading instruments, water pumps, shovels, rake, hoe, etc.; and a variety of supplies such as pipe, brick, cement, textile fabric, stone, etc. * Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as Foreman, Stormwater Manager, coworkers, other Town employees, and the general public. * Operates a variety of equipment and machinery (such as tractors, backhoe, flatbed truck, etc.). * Uses a variety of tools (such as rakes, pitchforks, weed eater, blower, pressure washer, etc.); and a variety of supplies (such as gas, weed eater string, safety equipment, etc.). * Performs other related duties as required.   To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential job functions satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the primary job functions herein described.  MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one year experience with storm drain installation; or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
