JOB SUMMARY:

The Design Engineer is responsible for developing high quality cost efficient, effective designs for AC induction motors to meet customer specifications. The incumbent is also responsible for the generation of models and production drawings and their manufacturability. To assist in the development of AC Induction Motor products including layouts, drawings and diagrams, BOM development and other engineering-related activities. Validation test specification development and manufacturing/production/validation test support.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 0-5 years experience in design of rotating equipment is preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of quality assurance systems would be an asset.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • SolidWorks experience would be an asset.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the design of mechanical components of electric motors, with consideration given to company objectives, cost requirements and time schedules.
  • Performs stress and thermal analysis.
  • Applies sound engineering techniques and practical experience in the development of designs for new or revised products, obtaining the necessary standard approvals where required.
  • Interprets and assesses the functional and performance requirements of customer specs.
  • Ensures that maximum quality is achieved at minimum cost.
  • Selects and advises purchasing personnel with regards to the materials and components to be used in the product.
  • Investigates product deviations and dispositions suitable repairs where applicable.
  • Investigates design and field engineering difficulties as well as causes of failure when required.
  • Follow appropriate procedures to meet ISO and Z299.3 Quality standards, participate in validations, verifications and design reviews as required.
  • Evaluates design alternatives for the most economical solution
  • Assist in negotiations by means of direct discussion with the customer.
  • Provides marketing representatives with costs of special features and standard product information.
  • Checks drawings for accuracy correctness and clarity.
