Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

The Tennis Shop Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer serve to members and guests in the tennis shop. Tennis Shop Assistants enjoy building relationship to ensure members and guests have a memorable experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide customer service when checking members and guests in; taking court reservations; utilizing the Point of Sale (POS) system for processing purchases, credit card transactions and entering tournament and league information; answering the telephone and fielding inquiries in accordance with AGC Standards
  • Manage reservations by recording member/guest name, telephone number and number of players, notifying customers of court fees; ensuring that all reservations are recorded on a court sheet and filed; maximizing techniques such as double booking, credit card guarantees, call backs, tournament play and selling to fill low utilization times
  • Maintain the tennis shop environment by keeping it neat and orderly; straightening and stocking merchandise including towels, balls, pace of play policy forms, etc.; vacuuming the shop each day and as needed; following AGC guidelines for opening and closing duties; including cash handling responsibilities; tallying court sheet at end of day; verifying stock levels; setting up ball machine; restringing racquets
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of members and guests by checking court and weather conditions, removing debris
  • Support successful tournament operations by assisting Tournament Director with preparation, staging, scoreboards, regulating tournament format and rules
  • Generate revenue by promoting tennis programs including tennis schools, junior tennis and tennis leagues to members and guests
  • Handle member/guest service issues in a prompt and effective manner
  • Maintain a professional and service-oriented environment in the tennis shop by utilizing excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • May assist the Tennis Director or Tennis Professional in generating various reports
  • May assist with merchandise inventory and pricing and with special promotions or discounts
  • May assist in training of other tennis shop assistants
  • Implement and support all AGC initiatives and programs as requested by management
  • Other duties may be assigned by management.
