QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Dance/Movement Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Certification in Dance/Movement Therapy or equivalent professional training (preferred).
  • Experience working in clinical, educational, or community settings with diverse populations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Empathy, creativity, and ability to adapt interventions to client needs.

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practices.
  • Experience with children, adolescents, or individuals with special needs.
  • Ability to integrate music, mindfulness, or other expressive arts into sessions.
  • Multilingual abilities (a plus, depending on client demographics).
  • Able ro conduct class in Mandarin.
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Movement Therapist will design and facilitate movement-based therapeutic interventions that promote emotional expression, psychological well-being, and physical health. This role combines knowledge of psychology, body movement, and creative expression to support individuals in overcoming challenges and achieving holistic wellness.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct individual and group movement therapy sessions to support emotional, psychological, and physical development.
  • Assess clients’ needs and design customized movement-based interventions.
  • Collaborate with psychologists, counselors, and educators to integrate movement therapy into broader therapeutic or educational programs.
  • Use movement, dance, and body awareness techniques to help clients improve self-expression, stress management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain accurate session notes, treatment plans, and progress reports.
  • Provide workshops and training sessions to promote the benefits of movement therapy.
  • Stay updated with latest research and practices in dance/movement therapy, somatic therapies, and expressive arts.
