Description
The MRF Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of environmental safety and operational excellence by effectively managing the day to day operations of the assigned shift in the MRF and maintain cost management. Further, he/she is to ensure that the facility/plant is in compliance with all applicable local, state and federal environmental regulations, corporate environmental guidelines, and facility/plant initiatives for maintaining good community relations through understanding, monitoring, and documenting compliance.   Reports To Senior VP of MRF Operations   * Ensure smooth operation of the site, including sorting and loading of the line. * Minimize handling and operational costs by maintaining set goals that ensure quality and productivity. * Complies with and ensures adherence to all Company policies and procedures, employee work rules, and federal and state mandated policies rules and regulations. * Assist in creating positive employee relations through employee development and motivation. * Ensures the cleanliness of equipment and the property by performing inspections. * Work with maintenance personnel on keeping equipment safe and operational. * Oversee personnel needs of the MRF including selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance. Provide input into termination, compensation, and promotion decisions. * Conducts and / or attend and contribute to periodic safety meetings. * Provide training and presentations as needed in a positive manner. * Update and submit required reports in timely manner. * Other duties as assigned. Will also include: Financial Management: * Promotes a culture of performance and exceeding expected results. * Drive and track financial performance via annual operations budgets and monthly operations forecast. * Reviewing costs in a month end review, ensure all costs are accounted for and are accurate. * Participate in monthly estimating, job cost and financial reviews. * Effectively develops goals and objectives to implement actions, track performance and continuously look for opportunities for improvement Topline & Customer Focus: * Works with all business units to drive customer retention and attraction * Drive quality for customer retention. * Seek opportunities to meet and exceed customer expectations. * Ensures a quality product/service within operations and actively works to resolve any issues. Operations Management: * Accountable for scheduling shifts, planning for call-ins/no shows, reporting department metrics and performance * Evaluates customer support and problem solving to find solutions to customer issues * Will set a motivational tone and establish a high degree of optimism focused on employees in the work environment * Responds positively to unpredictable situations or problems that can occur throughout their work responsibilities People Management: * Responsible for leading and supervising a supervisors, dispatchers and drivers, evaluating performance and delivering feedback * Develops measures to motivate employees and undertake office management * Focuses on succession planning and assuring a strong depth within the team * Participate in the development of emerging leaders to be ready to move into more responsible roles Qualifications * 3-5 years’ experience as Operations manager and/or Supervisor * Bilingual - Spanish / English strongly preferred * Ability to multi-task * Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills * Must be a self-starter * Strong level of accountability * Essential to be detailed oriented * Upbeat and energized to complete tasks with a positive attitude * Must work well under pressure * Essential to learn and practice all safety procedures as safety is our highest value. * Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook Software Skills Physical Demands / Environmental Factors * While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. * Occasionally required to stand and walk. * Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. * Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. * Sporadic local travel required.
