REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Extensive experience managing MRF and RDF facilities, ideally in high-volume, multi-shift environments
  • Demonstrable experience managing large operational teams (15+ staff)
  • Strong technical knowledge of vehicles and plant equipment used within MRF operations
  • NEBOSH qualification (preferred)
  • WAMITAB qualification (Preferred)
  • Additional certifications advantageous:
  • First Aid at Work
  • Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and staff management practices
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, maintaining focus and implementing contingency measures when needed
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills

Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

As a MRF Manager, you will lead and oversee the daily operations of a busy two-shift Materials Recovery Facility (MRF).
You will be responsible for ensuring operational targets and objectives are consistently achieved, maintaining the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and quality.
You will manage and support a team of over 15 staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the MRF and RDF facility, covering processing up to: -150,000 tonnes per year of mixed C&D and C&I wastes.
  • Oversee and coordinate shift operations to meet company targets and quality standards
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations; conduct investigations and implement corrective actions following incidents/accidents
  • Maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors and inspectors
  • Support the Site Operations Manager in covering the health, safety, and welfare of all staff.
  • Plan and execute preventive maintenance (PPM), plant shutdowns, and routine cleans to ensure maximum plant availability
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the facility to enhance efficiency and operational effectiveness
