Job Details Job Location: Summit Medical Center - Edmond, OK Position Type: PRN Salary Range: Undisclosed Job Shift: Day PRN MRI Tech-Description Summit Medical Center is looking for a PRN MRI Technician to join our Radiology team. A position is available at our Edmond hospital, on days as needed. Summit Medical Center has established an outstanding reputation for quality services. Position Summary: Interprets a physician's instructions, explains MRI procedures to patients, selects software options and imaging parameters when adjusting an MRI machine, views images from an imaging session, and keeps records of the results. Maneuvers examination equipment, prepares patients for procedures, moves disabled patients from wheelchairs onto examination tables, and positions them for imaging. The staffing of the Summit Medical Center is based on a teamwork concept. Employees may be cross-trained in other clinical areas and may be expected to perform duties other than their normal ones as staffing and patient needs change. Responsibilities: Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Interviews patients to explain MRI procedures, obtain pertinent exam history (including symptoms, related studies, medical conditions, medications, allergies and surgeries) and to verify the safety requirements have been met for metal objects and implants which may be hazardous to the patient and/or equipment Positions patients on scanner table and places specified coil over area of interest. Performs studies following protocols requested by the Radiologist and/or Referring Physician. Reviews images for proper anatomical coverage, quality and motion Gains IV access or performs butterfly injections as needed. Demonstrates use of microphone that allows patient and technologist to communicate during examination. Confirms operation of emergency bulb with patient. Observes patient through window of control room to monitor patient safety and comfort. Views images of area being scanned on video display screen to ensure quality of study. Enters data such as patient name, medical record number, birthdate, weight, referring physician, anatomical area to be scanned, patient orientation in scanner and performing technologist initials. Keys commands to specify scan sequence parameters into computer. Burn images to CD. Displays competency with HIS and PACS systems. Maintains a safe work area according to the ACR White Paper on MR Safety. Assists with the maintenance of MRI supplies and equipment. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Participates in educational programs and in-service meetings. Maintains established center/departmental policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of patient and center-related business. Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with patients, families, visitors, and other center employees. Documents concisely, precisely, and accurately on all records or documents as indicated by policy Participates in Quality Assessment activities as directed for the continuous improvement of patient care and center business. Qualifications Qualifications: Graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in the state of Oklahoma Evidence of having worked one year in a hospital x-ray department or a private radiological laboratory performing MRI images within the past two years Special Skills and Knowledge: Operation and general maintenance of MRI equipment Principles of Aseptic Technique Principles of Standard Precautions Essential Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
