Description
Overview The MRI Technologist provides direct patient care and manages equipment and scheduling for efficient work flow. Prepares patient for diagnostic procedure and conducts MRI scan with proficiency assuring quality of scans and images captured. Responsibilities Accurately performs MRI scans to department standard including technique, positioning, protocols and proper contrast selection and administration. Prepares consent forms and other demographic data for patients receiving treatment. Assures quality of image presented to radiologist for interpretation and consults with doctor to obtain optimum exam. Provides efficient transportation for patients both to and from requesting service areas. Uses wheelchairs, stretchers, beds in an appropriate fashion. Assists patient in and out of wheelchair and stretchers using proper wheel locking procedures. Cleans wheelchairs and stretchers and reports needed repairs to supervisor. Always uses proper lifting techniques as demonstrated in annual body mechanics in-service. Performs additional Radiographic/CT procedures with proficiency, as necessary. Coordinates the selection and use of supplies, minor equipment, X-Rays, reports, and files between departmental units as needed and maintains an efficient workflow. Coordinates schedules of equipment and personnel and maintains an efficient work flow. Collaborates in departmental and hospital wide QA/QI program as requested. Prepares contrast material, verifies physician order, and injects patients for I.V. procedures using proper sterile technique. Uses table pads, sheets, side rails/locks, to assure patient comfort and safety. Responsible for Call, Holidays, Weekends and 4 days minimum per month Qualifications Education / Training Associate's Degree/Diploma/Equivalent in Radiology Additional Information: Completion of formal Radiological Technology training in an AMA approved school for degree or diploma. Experience Requirements 0 - 1 years MRI experience Preferences: 1 year experience Registered Technologist with specialized training in Magnetic Resonance Imaging modalities Certificates/Licenses/Registration American Registry of Radiological Technologist ARRT (MR) Active FL Allied Health License Basic Life Support (BLS) Additional Information: BLS, provided by American Heart Association (AHA), required within 30 days of hire
