Description General Job Summary: Responsible for the operation of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner for providers. Assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care. *Schedule will be as followed: 12:00pm (noon)-7:00pm Monday/Wednesdays, and 10:00am-5:00pm Friday's. Essential Job Functions: Performs MRI imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards practice and protocols of the individual site Radiologist. Maintain patient care, comfort and safety during transport to and from the coach and during the exam. Under guidance and approval of site Radiologist, administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocols. Cooperates with facility healthcare personnel and complies with facility policies and procedures. Provides images to the facility in the desired format. Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. May assist with the set up and tear down of equipment in accordance with manufacturers’ guidelines. Maintains a clean environment inside and outside of the MRI unit. Completes necessary administrative tasks ie: time report, billing, QA, etc. Follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality. Cooperates with facility healthcare professional and complies with facility policies and procedures. Complies with HIPAA, OSHA and safety standards and regulations. Accurately completes and maintains medical records and documents. Back up of MRI Medical Receptionist. Ensure licensures are current and up to date. Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the department/practice. Requirements Education/Experience: High School Diploma. Graduate of an approved two-year Radiologic Technology program. Registered with the AART and certified in MRI is required. KY state license is required. CPR/AED and first aid certification preferred. Schedules will change as department needs change, including overtime, evenings and weekends. Travel as needed. Knowledge: Knowledge of HIPAA regulations. Knowledge of customer services standards in the healthcare field. Knowledge of current medical terminology and anatomy. Knowledge of electronic health records system. Skills: Excellent adaptability skills. Use of a scheduling system with in practice management software and accuracy in data entry. Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills. Skilled in interacting with patients in an autonomous, responsible, professional and ethical manner. Abilities: Ability to work with non-cooperative patients, patients with psychosocial problems and needs, or chronic and acute health problems. Ability to work under pressure with time constraints. Ability to produce very high quality special imaging with little supervision. Ability to organize work environment and work load to meet needs of the organization. Ability to assist the Radiologist with interpretation of exams. Ability to function effectively in a team-oriented environment. Equipment Operated: Standard office and imaging equipment. Work Environment: Imaging office. Sitting six to eight hours per day with some stooping, and bending. Requires ability to move equipment and transfer patients. Must be able to lift 60 pounds.
