MRO/TOOLING PURCHASER

JGW Machine Limited is one of Ontario’s leading metal fabricators, producing a wide range of metal components for customers across Ontario and worldwide. Our clean, modern, and highly automated 106,000 square foot facility is located in Southwestern Ontario. We provide full-service capabilities including engineering and design, machining, tooling, and complete quality control. With in-house process capabilities such as laser welding, CNC machining, production welding, metal spinning, powder coat painting, finishing, and assembly, we ship high-quality metal components and assemblies globally. We specialize in short-run, tight-tolerance metal forming, fabrication, and assembly with a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking an experienced MRO/Tooling Purchaser to join our materials management team. This position plays a critical role in supporting production and maintenance operations by sourcing, purchasing, and maintaining tooling and plant supplies. The successful candidate will have at least 2 years of purchasing experience, a background in manufacturing, and excellent follow-up and communication skills.

SKILL FACTORS:

  • Minimum 2+ years of purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organization and follow-up abilities
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office; experience with ERP systems (e.g., SysPro) is an asset
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to problem-solve independently
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and supply chain best practices
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2+ years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with tooling, MRO items, or plant maintenance supplies preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Post-secondary education in supply chain, purchasing, logistics, or business administration is an asset
  • Knowledge of vendor-managed inventory (VMI) systems is an asset
  • Familiarity with health and safety standards and workplace compliance
  • Experience developing supplier relationships is strongly preferred

Responsibilities
  • Review and process purchase requisitions for tooling, maintenance supplies, and general plant needs
  • Manage and maintain vendor-managed inventory (VMI) programs for tooling and plant materials
  • Purchase materials and supplies in a timely, cost-effective manner to support ongoing operations
  • Follow up on all purchase orders and delivery timelines to ensure on-time fulfillment
  • Communicate with internal departments and suppliers to resolve delivery or order discrepancies
  • Identify and develop new suppliers to improve sourcing options, pricing, and reliability
  • Support the engineering and management teams with special procurement projects
  • Maintain purchasing documentation in compliance with company standards
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures
  • Participate in shop floor and health & safety training as required
  • Ensure all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the JGW Code of Business Conduct and Confidentiality Policy
  • Provide occasional reception/switchboard relief as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Materials Manager
