EDUCATION

• 
  Must be a graduate from an approved MLT school and registered with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or ASCP registry eligible and fulfils Federal Register section 493.1495 personnel requirements.

EXPERIENCE

• 
  Previous experience in a clinical laboratory desirable.

JOB SUMMARY

• 
  Medical laboratory technician will perform all moderate complexity testing under the authorization of the laboratory medical director , perform testing as assigned with responsibilities for preanalytic, analytic, and postanalytic phases of testing to include proper patient identification, specimen collection, handling, performance and reporting of each test method, maintenance, and troubleshooting as applicable; performance and evaluation of quality control sample values; and documentation of all quality control and patient testing, maintenance, and corrective action activities. Instruct new technologist, technicians, and lab assistants and aid in the teaching program of MLT students. Assist with trouble-shooting instruments as appropriate. Assist in requisitioning necessary supplies, reagents. Must be able to register in the ADM module, be familiar with insurances, and know how to correct errors on the Waystar eligibility responses. Also, must be able to quick register through the lab module and processing, rountine venipuncture, and customer service skills. Must possess knowledge of ABN’s and waivers and usage, and knowledge of medical necessity for reimbursement. In addition MLT must be trained in registration, and be able to register patients in Meditech. Must also be trained in insurance and the passport ECARE system.
