EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor degree in Medical Technology, biological sciences or related field - REQUIRED
• Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft office - REQUIRED
• Minimum six (6) years clinical laboratory experience as generalist or in the related field - REQUIRED
• Current Florida supervisory license as generalist or related field - REQUIRED
• Certified by a professional laboratory certifying agency (i.e. ASCP, AMT) - REQUIRED

GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The MT Technical Lead, Expert (Lab) position performs complex laboratory procedures following established laboratory policy and procedures; reports test results, monitors workflow, and manages instrumentation maintenance, escalates to supervisor or manager as needed. Evaluates and ensures compliance with service guarantees and specimen quality requirements; serves as a technical resource for the department. Makes significant improvements to processes to enhance performance and outcomes of the team. This position reports to the Manager/Supervisor, Laboratory (Lab).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Evaluate and assess test systems

• Investigate and document proficiency testing corrective action
• Monitors and evaluates Quality Control results on instrument platforms/test systems
• Reviews and approves QC, maintenance logs and other required documentation
• Oversees completion of assay validations including but not limited to correlations, linearity and accuracy
• Escalates findings or deviations to supervisor or manager

1. Performs essential duties of Medical Technologist, independently

2. Leads and directs other Medical Technologists. Serves as mentor in MT Trainee Program.

3. Acts as SME (Subject Matter Expert) in the development and compliance of departmental policies and procedures and ensuring inspection readiness and liaison for other department collaboration

• Facilitates implementation of process improvement opportunities

1. Leads evaluation process of new and existing test methodologies, new and current equipment. Makes significant improvements to processes to enhance performance and outcomes of the team
2. Acts as lead in absence of supervisor and/or manager
