Description

COSL Canada Limited is seeking a Mud Field Technician responsible for mixing, testing, and monitoring drilling fluids throughout the drilling process. This role requires thorough analysis of formations and collaboration with geologists to design and recommend drilling fluids that align with planned well objectives. The Mud Field Technician will also support laboratory and office-based activities as required by the Project Manager, ensuring accurate testing, reporting, and adherence to operational and safety standards.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Expert knowledge of fluid systems, drilling fluids, and drilling bits
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and environmental regulations
  • Knowledge of different drilling contaminants, additives, and mud treatment
  • Proficient understanding of waste management
  • Technical knowledge in mathematics, physics, geology, and chemistry
  • Strong office software skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong analytical and trouble-shooting skills
  • SAGD working experience is preferred
    Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
    Contract length: 12 months
    Pay: $70.00-$95.00 per hour

Licence/Certification:

  • Energy Safety Canada Common Safety Orientation (CSO) (required)
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (required)
  • Hydrogen Sulphide Awareness (H2S) Certificate (required)
  • Standard First Aid Certificate (required)

Responsibilities
  • Controls the technology to prepare the drilling mud
  • Monitors the drilling fluid mud cleaning system’s operation
  • Participates in the optimization of the flushing fluids, and cleaning equipment modes of operation
  • Recommends optimal operating modes for cleaning fluid stages
  • Ensures the fluid parameters comply with work plans
  • Recommends treatment of drilling fluid with reagents
  • Recommends the replacement of drilling fluid to maintain optimal parameters and drilling fluid system properties
  • Ensures compliance with labor discipline and technological and safety regulations
  • Complies with the requirements for non-disclosure of confidential information
  • Minimizes waste associated with draining fluids
  • Works with drilling engineers and technicians to ensure a cost-effective drilling process
  • Measures the right amount of mud needed at all stages
  • In charge of assigned mud laboratory work of project manager
  • Assisting and accomplishing the relevant office work from project manager
