Description
General Purpose Operate shuttles to move trailers from building to building, staging area, and from various loading dock doors. Apply knowledge of commercial driving regulations. Job Duties and Responsibilities * Operate a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and DFA rules, regulations, and policies adhering to all safety practices * Receive instructions via radio and perform trailer shuttling to accommodate logistical needs * Perform daily maintenance checks of shuttle truck and report any malfunctions to the appropriate person * Document all trailer moves into the appropriate system or daily move sheet; submit sheet to appropriate person upon the completion of the shift * Fuel the yard truck as needed * Couple and uncouple tractor trailer units  * Connect and disconnect brake lines as needed * Perform safety check inspection of the trailer according to DOT regulations * Secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork at the end of the shift * Communicate effectively and maintain good relations with local staff; report any problems to the supervisor * Attend all driver workshops and training sessions * Represent DFA positively and professionally at all times during interactions with customers or other individuals * The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required Schedule-Monday-Friday 7:00pm-3:30am  Qualifications Education and Experience * High school diploma or equivalent preferred * Experience driving or shuttling tractor trailers preferred * Must meet minimum age requirements * Must meet DFA requirements for Motor Vehicle Records * Must meet all DOT requirements * Certification and/or License – driver’s license or operator’s permit for at least the three years immediately prior to application Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Basic knowledge of DOT procedures, rules, and requirements * Able to perform the duties of this role in all weather conditions * Able to communicate effectively * Able to work in collaboration effectively and foster good teamwork * Able to follow directions and meet deadlines * Able to be punctual * Able to work in a fast-paced environment * Good record keeping skills * Basic math skills * Must be able to read, write and speak English An Equal Opportunity Employer including Disabled/Veterans
